VMP SUBLIME CUSTOM 1/2
I was in the middle of the SRF builds when a thought just came to me…”I should make a Guitar that was specifically for todays Modern Players” It would be specifically geared to handle the Blazing Guitar Licks and High Powered Output as well as a Style that breaks with the traditional past.. I came up with the VMP! With it’s totally Unique, Aggressive Styling, Electronics and a Monster Neck, the VMP is set to handle anything and everything asked of it!!! This New Styling and New Mind Set was actually liberating and allowed me to make bold design choices that I would be less likely to do within the SRF and JZM Model formats… I retained the Swooped “F” Hole and chambered body to lessen the weight and extended the Lower Front Neck-Scoop to allow more access to the upper range of the neck. The Neck is a Magnificent One Piece Musikraft Maple Neck with Black Dots and a Beak Headstock. This is a Medium C Profile and it has a Black Graphite Nut. There is an excellent Seymore Duncan ’59 Model Humbucker in the Bridge Position with Coil Splitting capability with a Push-Pull Volume Knob. The Seymore Duncan 59 Model Humbucker Pickup in Bridge Position. It is a late ’50s, vintage-correct with a hum bucker sound with Warm and Crystalline Clean tones; Full and Bright distorted tones and Smooth sustain. Classic appointments include plain enamel wire, long legged bottom plate, vintage single conductor cable. Compared to the SH-55 Seth Lover, the ’59 has slightly more scooped mids and is vacuum wax potted for squeal free performance. In the Neck Position I put the Fantastic Lindy Fralin Blues Special… This Tele replacement pickup is a reproduction of the 50’s style using black fiberboard bobbin parts, cloth leads, ALNICO V or ALNICO III magnets, or 1/2 & 1/2. (ALNICO III’s were used in some pre-’55 Fender Telecasters.)
This guy is a BEAST!!!! The Bridge is a Top / Back Loaded Hard Tail model and the Machine Heads are the Fine Modern 6 in-line set from Ratio… The Bridge as well as all of the other Hardware and the Custom Pick Guard is Black…
Having access to a CN machine was a great advantage as it allowed me to try out various sizes and shapes until I got the body Perfect!!! This Guitar is very well Balanced without all the weight.. The Upper Edge of the body is contoured and the Back edge has a Radius for Comfort and sports a Fantastic LIME-GREEN Finish.. This is an old Dodge Color Called “SUBLIME” Which lent the Guitar its name….This Guitar is, as it’s name prompts, SUBLIME!!!
EVERYTHING ABOUT THIS GUITAR IS POINTING AT EXCELLENCE AND PLAYABILITY… THIS IS A WONDERFUL INSTRUMENT !!!
