VINTAGE 1977 ELECTRA APPLE RED X-320
Those of you who know about these vintage gems know what I am about to say. These are the actual Gibson Law Suite Les Pauls….Many claim to be these guitars, but the MPC’s` and the Ibenez Pauls are the real thing. (See Links below for the Complete Story)
The MPCs were manufactured in the same factory, side by side, at the same time as the Ibanez Pauls and were not only Hight Quality Copies as described, I think they were actually better than the original mid to late 70’s Gibson Les Pauls they were copying. Many well known Guitarists of that time played them and their reputation and status has grown over the years. I’ll Say it again.. these are exceptional guitars! In 1976 my father bought me my first real Electric Guitar.. It was am MPC X-310 Black (Black Bueaty). Today, I have three MPC’s in my collection. Other than the X-320 shown here, I also have an X-310 Black Bueaty and a X-330 Cherry Burst. Once again, I Can Not Say Enough About These Fabulous Guitars!
A major upgrade for these guitars was to replace the Magnaflux or in this casae, the Magnaflux II pickups with (at the time) Dimarzio Humbuckers. I personally never had a problem with the Magnaflux or Magnaflux II pickups (they had a unique Warm sound to them)… but for all you die-hards out there… I too, replaced them… this one has an early Dimarzio humbucker in the Bridge position and the original Magnaflux II in the neck position.
This is an extremely well built, double bound Les Paul clone with a bound Fretboard and Headstock, Abalone Inlays, a Brass nut, 5 position Rotary Switch and 2 working MPC effects modules. The MPC is unique in that it has replaceable effects modules (quite difficult to find and quite expensive in working condition). This Guitar comes with two, the Treble and Bass Expander and the Phase Shifter modules. These can be activated with the two toggle switches on the font of the guitar ands dialed in with the last two control knobs.
I have owned this guitar since 1989 and recorded the best Lead work I have ever done on this exact guitar.
I WILL SAY THIS ONE MORE TIME… THESE LES PAUL CLONES OUT SHINE NEARLY ALL MID-LATE ’70’s LES PAUL’S I HAVE EVER PLAYED!!!… AND I ASSURE YOU THAT I HAVE OWNED AND OR PLAYED MANY!!! JUST TO UNDERLINE MY POINT… I STILL USE AN MPC TO THIS DAY FOR CERTAIN LEAD WORK!!
